WHAT'S YOUR NAME?
WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
WHAT DO YOU DO? (STUDY, WORK,...)?
"I work as Prospect Management Associate at McGill University. I also freelance as a fundraising writer, social media manager, and currently training to be a spin instructor. I will be going back to school in September for a Professional Certificate in Digital Content and Community Management."
CAN YOU TELL ME A BIT MORE ABOUT YOURSELF?
"I am recent graduate from the University of Toronto in Economics and International Relations. I have a passion for doing good and helping others, which is why my current main career is in higher education philanthropy. I am a huge world politics nerd, I previously worked for the United Nations Association in Canada where I led youth delegations to international diplomatic conferences. I also enjoy spending time working on my physical development which is what I'm known for through my digital channels."
WHAT'S YOUR PASSION?
"I would say my passion is helping others become the best versions of themselves. I struggled a lot through my undergraduate trying to find my authentic self, and experienced many obstacles into my own self discovery so I want to make everyone's else journey to finding themselves a bit easier, in any way, shape, or form that I can. This has translated to inspiring people to get active, involved, and overall just to keep moving forward and never plateau in any way in their life."
WHEN AND HOW DID YOU DISCOVER IT?
"As previously mentioned, I discovered this during my undergraduate years. After being afraid of what people were going to think of me in my classes, the gym, in my extra-curriculars, I honestly just started living for myself and saw a huge change in my happiness. However, it did bring a lot of stress from family and friends as it was a major change in behaviour but at the end of the day those who understood my postive changed only supported me to go through it better."
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
"Deadlines. I'm very deadline driven. I give myself soft and hard deadlines and that's how I live my life. I believe it works for me because it gives me something to looks towards and do my best between the present and the set date. It's just like how creative work sometimes is the best when you have limitations because you have to do your best with what you have. Same thing with me and deadlines."
WHAT USUALLY HOLDS YOU OR HOLDS YOU BACK?
"Not failing. Failing hurts but after a couple of reflection sessions, I can learn from it and learning is a privilege I do not take for granted. To me, unfulfilled potential might scare me but that does the opposite of holding me back."
HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO LIVE YOUR PASSION WHILE WORKING?
"I plan everything. I plan when I am to be working on a specific project, I plan adequate time to procrastinate, I just plan everything. I am a calendar freak, if it's not on my calendar it will probably not happen. I also always make sure to have rest days throughout the week so I can recenter and reevaluate my priorities to make sure I am adjusting to the changing needs of my projects or whomever I am working with."
WHAT'S YOUR TALENT?
"Getting shit done. I love to make things happen."
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO IMPROVE?
"Patience. This life virtue, as some people call it, is one that I struggle with the most."
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU LOST TRACK OF TIME AND WHAT WERE YOU DOING?
"I lose track of time usually when I am in a spin room, working out, or editing pictures."
WHAT'S THE ONE THING YOU HATE THE MOST ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA?
"Ah the love/hate relationship with social media. Fitness people in social media can get to me. Everyone seems to be always looking better than you, hotter, buffer, etc. Although, I try to keep a realistic sense of fitness and a healthy lifestyle there is a lot of pressure to look a certain way for both women and men, although it may give me a bit of motivation sometimes, it can definitely get me down sometimes. I always have to remind myself that fitness looks, and feels, different on everyone and everyone has a different path in their healthy lifestyle. That usually makes me feel better quickly."
WHAT'S THE ONE THING YOU LOVE THE MOST ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA?
"Social media is so powerful! I love connecting with people all around the world. I love the fact that you can inspire people to go the gym, be and stay active, all because they see you doing it all the time. I also love keeping up and engaging with influencers in Montreal and around the globe. It's fun to see what they're up to and how similar, or different, your life, social media style, and hobbies are. You can really learn a lot from them, plus I've made really cool digital friends."
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T FIND HIS PASSION YET?
Try different things, never settle, and be patient.
